Literature Text

The words you carve into your flesh
hold a lifetime of your miseries.
All those cuts that are still fresh
mar your porcelain symmetry.
A knife cuts us two apart,
like a gaping wound in intimacy.
Just remember you scarred your own heart
and beat mine all up when you left me.
I won’t take the blame for anything—
don’t you pin your mistakes on me.
You were the one who destroyed our everything
and let yourself flounder in your own misery.
I tried to swim past your river of blood
and was caught in the tide of your sorrows,
nearly drowned in the tears and the mud,
and now I’m too exhausted to follow.
About a friend and her cutting.

Know the feeling. Got a song about it myself.
